Obama-ese

Obama-ese

No, it's not a language. It's a way of thinking. People who are so infatuated with this man want him to be president for what reasons?

1. He's African-American

2. He's articulate

3. He's African-American, or Black. Whichever.

4. He can give a good, moving speech.

5. Oh yeah, and he's African-American. Wait I said that already.

So now you get my point. People want to vote for this man for these and other surface-selfish reasons. They don't really know where he stands on certain issues. They don't know what and how he really feels about the hot button issues like healthcare, economics, oil. Most of all that we've heard from him during this campaign time is change, change, change. Is that all we can expect? Change? How? What? When? Where?

Talking like Obama will eventually have you confused as well. People want more than just "change" rhetoric. They want something tangible, something applicable. We know we need change, but how iwll that change be implemented? By what actions will he go by in instituting these "changes"? Will he just keep reminding us of the change hype and hope we're not looking? That's called the okie-doke and we all remember that from eight years ago, right?

Draw The Line

Draw The Line

During the Vice Presidential debate on last week, I noticed something that bothered me so much to the point that I almost wanted to turn it off, but couldn't. I wanted to see and hear everything that was said and be able to draw my own conclusions from the debate. However, while I cross-analyzed each candidate's statements and read between the lines matching facts with conjecture, a couple of things stood out:

1. Senator Joe Biden seemed gracious enough to Mayor Palin, almost too gracious, and at times seemed almost a *little* condescending. Sure she's inexperienced and younger than the Biden-ator, but does he have to make it so painfully obvious by talking "at" her? Or, is that his strategy - to condescend to her in an attempt at breaking her?

2. Governor Palin was just way too relaxed in her cavalier way of answering serious political questions that affect our future. I'm a little aggravated because, as I would so very much like to inform Mrs. Palin, everyone is not a hockey mom, every-day-joe-blow who wants casual answers to hard-hitting questions. Answering questions in that "aww gee" tone can be a little off-putting to some voters. I think the neighbor-next-door act is a little played now and time to move on to something else, don'tcha think?

Perhaps the candidates should consider who they really are addressing and speaking on behalf of. Get rid of the facades and address the American people in the way they deserve - - with complete openness and frankness.

Suggest a Question

No, I Got You Palin

No, I Got You Palin

In an impromptu moment where Vice-President Elect Sarah Palin responded too quickly to a journalist in answering a question about war may be a moment she would choose to quickly forget. In a Palin-dubbed "gotcha" moment a journalist asked her a question about Pakistan to which she responded that she'd go to war with in a minute! Wow, that may be something that she would have better left unsaid and untouched. Instead, as could have been expected, the journalist ran with it saying that Sarah Palin is war-happy. Not fair huh? No it isn't and neither should Governor Palin so quickly spout off her opinions or political stand in such an uncontrolled, semi-chaotic environment. Questions like this (and really any other political question) deserve a more thought-out, careful response than just blurting it out without regards to consequences or image. However, doing so requires maturity and experience from the person, something that only comes with, well, maturity and experience.

Now, why is it again that people are deciding to vote for Gov. Palin?
